In Library we have been doing things about aboriginals and one of the choices were to make a poster about the some of the places and what they meant I’m the aboriginal language.

In school this term we have been looking at what Aboriginals life was like in the goldfields. From what I have learnt so far that if we compare our lives to there lives they would be very different. Like the Aboriginals did not have any electronics or cars. They also knew the what plants are good to eat and what plants not to eat. But they also made medicine out of plants by combining different plants and lots of other stuff.
I am going to tell you what jobs they had. There was native police which was a fearsome force and they looked after the goldfields. But they really wanted to get the miners out. The Native police always made a good appearance everywhere they went. And did you know that the native police were the first police ever.
There was also Phrenologist which predicted what behaviour and what there attributes of a person would be. They found this out by feeling the lumps and bumps and the shape of their head.
These are just a few of what jobs that the Aboriginals had and if you want to know more about what Aboriginals life was, then stay tuned.

At my school the people who have a blog do a blogging challenge during the year and my year level is doing it now. Our blogging challenge is an activity to improve our blogging skills and includes creating an avatar,putting a hyperlink and embedding a photo into our post.
Well, an avatar is a picture that you create but you are not allowed to put a photo of yourself on your blog.
For my avatar I made it to represent me. I did the background hearts and the colour pinky, purple because I like to draw hearts a lot and do patterns in them. Plus my favourite colour is pink, purple and aqua. That is why I did my top aqua. Also my eyes are blue, skin light but not to light. And my hair is blond and my lips are pink.

Adventure Chat

If I had to choose a genre of books that I love to read the most. It would be ADVENTURE because it is so exciting and you don’t know what will happen next. I find that adventure books hook me in. Which I can not put the book down.
There is a books that has a lot of adventure in it. The book is called THE ENCHANTED WOOD. I would definitely recommend this book to you because each chapter at the top of the Faraway tree there is a special land. And the 3 kids and there friends at the Faraway tree go and visit the place that is at the top. Which do you think they will get out in time????
My book chat book is THE GIRL, THE CHAT & THE NAVIGATOR. It is about a girl called Oona which she has 6 sisters who enjoy to pick on her and her dream would be if she will ever get to go to the northern sea but only boys are allowed to go.
I love the book so far because it has hooked me in and I need to know what will happen next. It has put me in so much serspence.

My first month of grade 5
Hello World!
This year I am in grade 5 and I was extremely excited for the first day. I made lots of new friends and every was everyone that I met was very nice!
In grade 5 you get to do APS which is for the first team you do internal sports like bike ED for 2 sessions , swimming for 2 session, then 1session of a triathlon, 5 sessions of rock climbing. For the 2nd, 3rd and 4th term we can choose to our own activities. Which I am so excited about APS!
On the 25th of February we got our LEADERSHIP journals and we did our front covers and it had to do with leadership and I found a nice quote. I was: LEADERSHIP IS NOT A POSITION OR A TITLE IT IS ACTION AND EXAMPLE. Then I did lots of others things on the page.

My own science experiment

We did an science experiment and this is my reflection on it. The experiment was to see in We putted 4 pieces of the same nickel and we would put them in 4 different liquids and see if it is still magnetic. They are tomato sauce, coke, vinegar and soapy water. I found the experiment very interesting because the coke make the nickel have very small holes in it and on the sides of nickel it went green like seaweed. I also found that the vinegar interesting because it also went green like seaweed on the sides. With the tomato sauce it went a bit red but I think it is because we had to put it in tomato sauce and I did not wash it yet. Then with the soapy water it just got a good clean. I think I know what you all want to know if they were all still magnetic. Well hear are the results. Tomato sauce was still magnetic and so was soap water. But will coke it was just magnetic and with vinegar it was just magnetic. Now I think you would want to do a science experiment?

Future Year 4’s
Dear Future Year 4’s,
I hear you’re coming up to Year 4 next year.
Here is three thing that you need in Year 4:
- You will need to have not a fixed mindset because there will be a lot of things that would be challenging and you will not finish it if you have a fixed mindset
- You will also need to have resilience because if you get something wrong you will need to except that you got the answer wrong. Which it is ok because you will learn the answer eventually
- You will also need reflection to reflect what has happen during the year and on your work.
Two thing to look forward to are….
- Working very hard to get your pen licence
- Camp which you will be going to Mount Evelyn which is very cold
A time when I laughed was when we were writing the nativity play which is about the story of Jesus birth because it is very hard to write a play. And sometimes the structure is funny and the wording is sometimes funny.
A time I was challenged was when we were acting out the nativity play because you have to remember all your lines and getting your costume ready.
I am proud of how much my vocabulary improved because you do Beneath Our Feet unit and there are lots of new words that you learn but they mean really simple words. But I also think that my knowledge has improved because you learn lots of new things during the year that are very interesting.
I always remember Mrs Burns and Mrs Haines saying pull your socks up which mean get your act together.
Nativity play
This term we have been writing a nativity play and the story was about the birth of Jesus. The story was written by 4HB 2019. The process of making the script was:
- Well we had to write the scenes slowly. Which we had to edit all 12 scenes together as a class.
- Next in our homework we had to get together our costumes and mine was a knight. I just got most of my costume out of my family’s the dress up box.
- Once we got the costumes we started to act out the play without using the script because by then we had to have memorised our lines.
I enjoyed our dress rehearsal because we actually got to wear our costumes for the first time. And we also got to watch the other classes in my year level and they were all good but they were also all very different.
But there was also a time when we presented our play to the other grade 4 classes. I used courage to do it in front all of the grade 4 cohort as there are so many people and I felt nervous.
There was something that was challenging too and it was to make my voice loud enough so that everyone in the room could hear what I was saying. Which I think that I did very well because it felt like I was yelling.
Overall we have practicing the play some my is because we are going to present the play to an age care facility. Plus we are also going to present the play to our families and the grade 2s because the grade 3s are on camp.

Book Week
Reading Is My Secrete power
Today on the 23 of August we had book week and I dressed up as EJ 12 and the book I am in is EJ Spy. Which the author is Susannah McFarlane. If you wanted to find this book in the library it would be under the genre Adventure. I know this book will be amazing to read because it is funny and keeps you in suspense by the action so now you might know why the genre is Adventure.
EJ Spy is about a girl that goes to school and she gets asked if she wants to be a detective and she says yes. So she solves lots of cases and she has to try to keep her identity a secret. Here is the hard part about it she also has to try to get to school and do all her Spy mission even thow she has to go to a secret agent school to learn how to be a agent. If you want to now more about the books you should read this fantastic book and trust me you will not put it down until you finish the book.
I guess by now you are probably wondering how I got all this stuff for my costume. So this is how I did it so I will tell you I had some very cool special Spy gear at home so I used that and that was the glasses, a pen that you can write secret thing on your mission, a fit bit that you clip on to your pants. Which will track your steps because every Spy has to be fit and healthy.
Why I chose this book. It is that we are the exact same age as me. Also we both like to to do lots of Spy work which it is so much fun because you are having fun but at the same time you are also helping the whole wide world. I think we have the same personalities because we like spying on people and we have lots of confidence and courage because we do things that we sometimes do not want to do but we still do it and we help people that we do not know.
I guess by now you want to read EJ Spy by now? I am right because after this you should clearly want to read this fantastic book and if you don’t you will need to have a chat with me.
